Beyond the Mawashi

Tobizaru’s ring name 翔猿 literally translates to "Flying Monkey." This shikona is inspired by his high-octane combat style that relies on rapid footwork and unexpected lateral movements.

Growing up in Edogawa, Tokyo, he followed his older brother, Hidenoumi 英乃海, into the world of sumo. While his brother possesses a more traditional, heavy-power style, Tobizaru opted for a path of agility—proving that in the dohyo, technique is just as important as power.

When the "Flying Monkey" enters the dohyo, you know that you can count on an exciting, high-speed match!
